Great site, Charles! Your transcriptions are gems. I noticed a couple are from Harry Allen. Interesting because I have his 76xxx Mark VI and he has my Balanced Action tenor. We traded "on a temporary basis" about 30 years ago!
I'd now love to sell the Mark VI, (getting old) which turns out to be the best one I EVER played, but a look on EBay reveals that people are asking $10,000 bucks for them.
I don't know anybody who has that kind of money these days.
Harry is so enamored of Balanced Action horns he found out I had a good one and came to my apartment on his way to a gig downtown and asked me if I'd lend him the horn just for the gig, leaving his Mark VI as security.
Well, I knew him pretty well anyway and trusted him completely but we did it. I played his horn that night and loved that wonderful cutting edge that Mark Vi's have. Later that night he called and asked me if we could continue along for a while.
"A while" turned out to be 30 years!
Congratulations on a terrific web site, Charles! Lots of good luck, and keep up the good work!
